Privacy policy
This policy explains what Real Take Home Pay collects, why, and what you can do about it. The short version: the calculator runs entirely in your browser, no salary figures are ever sent to or stored by this site, and the only data collected is a small amount of EU-hosted analytics. This site is operated as an independent project from the United Kingdom, and UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018) applies.
What we do not collect
- Your salary or calculation inputs. The calculator computes take-home pay in your browser from the published rate card for 2026/27. Nothing you type — salary, pension, student loan, region — is transmitted to a server.
- An account. Public visitors do not register and no personal profile is created. (The site owner has a private admin area, but that is not part of your use of the calculator.)
- Payment details. The site is free and collects no payments.
What we do collect (analytics)
To understand which pages help people and fix what does not, the site uses PostHog, hosted in the European Union. Analytics run only on the live production site and collect: the page visited, approximate location (country-level, from your IP), browser and device type, and referring site. Session recording and input autocapture are disabled, so keystrokes and form contents are never recorded. The analytics requests go through a first-party subdomain of this site, and you can block them with standard browser privacy tools.
Cookies and local storage
The site stores small amounts of data in your browser to function: your chosen theme (light/dark) and analytics identifiers used by the analytics provider described above. The calculator itself keeps its state in the page URL rather than cookies, so a calculation can be shared as a link without storing anything. No third-party advertising cookies are used.
Hosting and processing
The site is hosted on Vercel, whose servers process standard web request logs (IP address, user agent, requested URL) for security and operation. Analytics data is processed by PostHog in the EU. Neither Vercel nor PostHog receives your salary or calculator inputs, because those never leave your browser. We do not sell, rent or share your data with any other party.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, to object to or restrict processing, and to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office. Because the calculator stores nothing about you, in practice there is usually nothing to delete — but if you have questions about this policy, email hi@efosaso.com and we will respond within a reasonable time.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the updated version will be posted on this page with a revised date. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
